Mackenzie Health announces new president and CEO

December 10, 2025

Carmine StumpoRICHMOND HILL, Ont. – Mackenzie Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Carmine Stumpo (pictured) as its new president and chief executive officer, effective April 13, 2026. Carmine joins the organization from Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, where he has served as president and CEO since 2018.

In that role, he has been instrumental in securing approval of a new hospital, expanding surgical services, increasing bed capacity, establishing a family medicine teaching unit and guiding the hospital’s COVID-19 response.

Carmine also currently serves as supervisor at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston, where he has been leading efforts to strengthen governance, accountability, finances and the ability to deliver the best possible care to patients and their families.

Prior to these roles, Carmine held progressive leadership positions at Michael Garron Hospital, including vice president of programs. His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from the University of Toronto, a Doctorate in Pharmacy from Wayne State University and an Executive MBA from Athabasca University. He has also contributed to health care research through numerous publications and academic appointments.

Carmine’s appointment follows a comprehensive national search process, and the two-campus hospital is excited to welcome his vision, expertise and commitment to innovation and quality care as it continues to strengthen for the future.

This announcement also provides an important moment to recognize and thank Mary-Agnes Wilson, who has served as interim president and CEO since July. Mary-Agnes stepped into the role at a critical time, providing stability and continuity while ensuring the organization remained focused on delivering exceptional care and keeping the momentum on strategic priorities. Her steady leadership and deep knowledge of Mackenzie Health and the broader health system have been invaluable.
