Sudbury public health launches new EMR

February 4, 2026

Dr Emily GrootSUDBURY, Ont. – Public Health Sudbury & Districts is excited to announce the launch of Profile EMR, a new electronic medical record system powered by Intrahealth. This new system will move client and program records to a digital format, making it easier to access and use data, improve decision-making, and enhance client experiences to better meet the health needs of local communities.

Creating a single, unified client record will simplify processes, reduce duplication, and support continuous care across programs.

“The One Client, One Record approach strengthens our ability to share accurate health information seamlessly across the agency. This advancement is essential to ensuring timely, coordinated, and high-quality public health services for local communities,” said Dr. Emily Groot (pictured), acting associate medical officer of health.

“With an electronic medical record, we’re reducing duplication, strengthening reporting and data quality, and better connecting care — ensuring clients, families, and community partners experience more coordinated and efficient services.”

Public Health will roll out clinical and community programs in stages, beginning with services like the breastfeeding clinic, Health Information Line, and the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program.

What clients, caregivers, families, and community partners can expect:

  • Elimination of paper charts.
  • Improved coordination of care across Public Health programs and sites.
  • Safer, more accurate, and more efficient public health service delivery.
  • Appointments may take slightly longer during early implementation. We appreciate your patience during this transition.

Electronic medical record systems used by different health organizations do not currently connect with each other. This means that Public Health only has access to the records created within our own system. Public Health does not have access to information from other providers.
