Lime Health secures $1M in funding for Emilia

May 6, 2026

Francis RobichaudQUEBEC CITY – Lime Health, a Quebec-based B Corp certified company and leader in patient experience measurement, announced the closing of a financing through a group of private investors, Desjardins through its Startup in Residence program, and the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC).

The $1 million funding will be used to accelerate the commercialization of Emilia, its intelligent mobile app designed to help patients better remember, understand, and share information from their medical consultations.

“Emilia was born from a simple conviction: a medical consultation should never end with a patient leaving without fully understanding what was just said,” asserted Francis Robichaud (pictured), founder and CEO of Lime Health. “With the support of our investors and partners, we now have the means to offer that peace of mind to many more patients and loved ones, in Canada, Europe, and the United States.”

Available on the App Store and Google Play, Emilia records the exchanges between a patient and their healthcare professional, then automatically turns them into clear, structured summaries, including next steps in care. The app also makes it possible to securely share these summaries with loved ones or other members of the care team.

Since its launch in September 2025, Emilia has already been adopted by thousands of users in Canada and internationally. Lime Health continues to receive testimonials from patients and loved ones describing the concrete impact of the app on their understanding of care and peace of mind.

The app has also attracted the attention of several health media outlets and speakers, who showcase it on their platforms to illustrate its potential across all levels of the system.

In a context where healthcare systems are facing growing pressure on resources and where continuity of care remains a major challenge, Emilia stands out as a practical tool to reduce forgetfulness, improve treatment adherence, and strengthen the partnership between patients and professionals.

Emilia is distinguished by its unique way of putting artificial intelligence at the service of the patient, rather than the clinician. Whereas most AI solutions in healthcare aim to reduce clinicians’ workload, Emilia instead maximizes the value of every word spoken by the healthcare professional for the person who benefits from it most directly: the patient.

This new financing will allow Lime Health to deploy Emilia at a larger scale in Canada, accelerate its market entry, and strengthen its partnerships with healthcare institutions.

Institutions in Belgium, Switzerland, the United States, and the United Kingdom have shown interest in taking part in Emilia’s rapid adoption. Designed with healthcare professionals, the app responds directly to the directions of several healthcare systems that place health literacy and patient empowerment at the heart of network transformation.

The Lime platform is already playing a structuring role in the transition of several Canadian institutions toward Value-Based Healthcare, an approach that places patient-experienced outcomes, rather than procedure volume, at the heart of care quality. PREMs (patient-reported experience measures) and PROMs (patient-reported outcome measures) are its foundations, and their AI-assisted analysis now accelerates the loop between patient feedback and concrete actions by clinical teams.

“With stress, it is often difficult for a patient to fully grasp all the information discussed during a medical visit,” said Dr. Pascal St-Germain, surgeon and medical VP of Lime Health. “Emilia now automates simplified note-taking, directly accessible on the mobile app, which the patient can review at their leisure once home.”
