Virtual Hallway launches Asklepius for frontline docs
September 9, 2026
HALIFAX – Virtual Hallway has announced the launch of Asklepius, a first-of-its-kind Canadian clinical solution that combines AI with the insights of Canadian specialists, helping frontline clinicians get trusted answers faster and bringing specialist-informed care to more patients.
Clinicians raise 57 questions for every 100 patients they see, according to JAMA Internal Medicine. When a question comes up, finding answers takes valuable clinical time and when time does not allow for it, decisions may be made without the information they need, adding uncertainty and potentially leading to avoidable referrals or emergency department visits.
With Asklepius, clinicians ask a question and receive evidence-based, verifiable answers grounded in trusted Canadian sources: over 500 clinical guidelines, provincial formularies, Health Canada drug monographs, and CPS drug information through a content agreement with the Canadian Pharmacists Association. Asklepius supports clinical judgment. It never replaces it.
Over the past six months, 725 physicians and nurse practitioners from across Canada have used Asklepius in a limited launch, providing feedback and helping shape the product around the needs of Canadian clinicians.
In medicine, getting the right answer often starts with asking the right person. Virtual Hallway was founded to make that easier by bringing the traditional peer-to-peer hallway consult online, giving clinicians access to specialist expertise even when the right colleague isn’t physically down the hall.
Asklepius takes that same mission a step further. Now, clinicians have two complementary ways to get the answers they need: Asklepius for questions that can be answered through trusted clinical evidence, and Virtual Hallway when the question calls for the experience and perspective of another clinician. Different tools, built around the same goal: helping clinicians get to the right answer, faster.
“As a physician, you have a question and the answer lives somewhere, but finding it fast, and trusting what comes back, that’s the challenge,” said Dr. Daniel Rasic (pictured), COO and co-founder of Virtual Hallway.
“Virtual Hallway has the network of specialists and clinicians who trust each other. Asklepius adds a knowledge layer to the same trusted network, resulting in better answers for our health system, developed by people who work inside it.”
Until now, Canadian clinicians have largely relied on tools built for other healthcare systems, then adapted for Canada. Asklepius was built the other way around. It was developed in Canada by a team working inside the Canadian health system, including practicing physicians, and it is continuously vetted by Canadian specialists.
Asklepius is free for all licensed Canadian physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, registered nurses, physician assistants, and resident physicians. It is available now. Canadian clinicians can sign up at app.virtualhallway.ca/registration.
About Virtual Hallway
Virtual Hallway is a Canadian healthcare platform that gives clinicians access to specialist insight. The platform offers peer-to-peer consultations with specialists, accredited CME lectures, and Asklepius, Virtual Hallway’s clinical reasoning support tool. Virtual Hallway was founded by Dr. Jacob Cookey, Justin Hartlen, Dr. Luke Napier, and Dr. Daniel Rasic on a simple conviction: when a clinician is unsure what to do next, another clinician can often help. Today it’s used by physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals across the country, with consults available in Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Virtual Hallway is 100% Canadian-owned and operated, and has been recognized as CanHealth’s Company of the Year (2025), winner of Digital Health Canada’s 2026 Clinical and Care Delivery Transformation Award, and HealthPro’s 2026 Healthcare Innovation Winner.
