November 4, 2026
CHARLOTTETOWN – Health P.E.I. announced that Laurae Kloschinsky has been appointed as the health authority’s chief executive officer. Kloschinsky (pictured) had been serving as interim CEO since March 11, following the departure of former CEO Melanie Fraser.
“It is a privilege to lead Health P.E.I. and work alongside dedicated physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals, staff, volunteers and partners who support health-care delivery across our province,” Klonchinsky said in a news release.
“Together, we will continue focusing on providing high-quality care, supporting our workforce, and ensuring Islanders receive the care they need, when and where they need it.”
Kloschinsky holds a bachelor of science in pharmacy from the University of Saskatchewan. She previously worked for the P.E.I. Department of Health and Wellness as assistant deputy minister of mental health and addictions.
“Since stepping into the interim role, Laurae has provided steady leadership, a strong focus on patients and staff, and a commitment to collaboration with healthcare professionals, government, communities and system partners across Prince Edward Island,” Health P.E.I. chair, Dr. Richard Wedge, is quoted as saying in the release.
“The board is confident her experience, vision and ability to build strong partnerships will help Health P.E.I. continue improving access to care and strengthening services for Islanders.”
Kloschinsky was not available for an interview with CBC News.
In the release, Health and Wellness minister Cory Deagle is quoted as saying Kloschinsky “has built strong relationships with healthcare professionals, community partners and stakeholders across Prince Edward Island.”
“Her appointment provides leadership continuity as we continue working together to improve access to care and strengthen our health-care system for Islanders,” the quote attributed to Deagle reads.
