UHN pathology head steps down amid investigation

TORONTO – Dr. Sylvia Asa (pictured), long-time head of pathology at the University Health Network, and her husband, Dr. Shereen Ezzat, an endocrinologist and director of a lab at the hospital, have both been demoted from their positions. The hospital concluded in an investigation that the physician-researchers had falsified data in scientific papers, according to court documents. Read More

Samir Patel GUELPH, Ont. – Guelph General Hospital plans to improve its on-site diagnosis of disease with the addition of nuclear medicine imaging this November. Digital mammography reaches across Manitoba

Sharon Blady WINNIPEG – Manitoba has announced the introduction of a comprehensive, fully integrated provincial system for digital mammography. Health Minister Sharon Blady (pictured) said the first provincial site to receive a digital mammography system will be the Brandon Regional Health Centre in September 2015, adding that other sites will receive digital mammography between October 2015 and April 2016.
