Niagara region hospitals to scan millions of records

Jane Doan HAMILTON, Ont. – Hamilton’s Bay Area Records Conversion (BARC) has entered into a five-year contract to scan inpatient records for the Niagara Health System. The preliminary phase of the contract requires some six million pages to be converted to digital format from the Douglas Memorial Site in Fort Erie, Greater Niagara General Site in Niagara Falls, Port Colborne Site, St. Catharines Site and Welland Site. Telus Health acquires BC-based Med Access, an EMR company

VANCOUVER – Telus Health has acquired 100% of the shares of Med Access Inc., a leading Kelowna-based company providing electronic medical record (EMR) services to 2,000 specialty and general practice physicians in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. The acquisition brings the total Telus Health EMR reach to more than 12,500 Canadian physicians, supporting more than 45 million patient interactions each year.
