OntarioMD announces new Chief of Strategy

October 26, 2022

Chris SulwayTORONTO – OntarioMD is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Sulway (pictured) as the company’s new chief of strategy, growth, & stakeholder relations. Mr. Sulway is recognized as a strong system leader, strategist, and communicator. He was most recently a Special Advisor to the Office of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Health and served the Honourable Sylvia Jones and the Honourable Christine Elliott.

In this role Chris guided the provincial transformation strategy, including the creation of Ontario Health Teams – the government’s vision for improved integrated care, and the creation of Ontario Health as the central agency responsible for health system oversight and accountability.

Chris’ responsibilities also included the provincial Digital First for Health Strategy announced in October 2019 that has supported the adoption of virtual care, greater access to personal health information and improved data use and analytics. The transformation strategy remains a key enabler for the government to improve patient outcomes and experience, improve the provider experience and achieve greater value from the resources in the healthcare system.

“Chris Sulway is an important addition to the OntarioMD executive team.” said Robert Fox, OntarioMD’s CEO. “He brings his strategic insight to enhance OntarioMD’s leadership in delivering new, innovative, business strategies that will benefit clinicians, vendors, and the provincial health system.”

Chris has extensive clinical and management experience and has developed expertise in designing and executing organizational and system solutions. Before working as a special advisor, Chris spent eight years with the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) where he was the vice president, quality, performance & accountability.

Chris is a licenced physiotherapist in Ontario and has worked clinically across many settings from hospitals to community-based services. He is a Certified Healthcare Executive with the Canadian College of Health Leaders and enjoys lecturing at several universities in both Physical Therapy and Health Management.

Chris has successfully worked with boards, government, stakeholders, colleagues, and staff to collaborate around a common vision and execute solutions. He is excited to bring his experience to OntarioMD and feels confident the organization can be a key enabler of system change.
