KA Imaging installs mobile X-ray at WRHN

WATERLOO, Ont. – X-ray manufacturer KA Imaging has announced the installation of its Reveal Mobi Pro mobile X-ray system at Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN). The system will be deployed at the WRHN Queen’s Blvd. site, formerly St. Mary’s General Hospital, to support bedside imaging, particularly in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The Reveal Mobi Pro integrates KA Imaging’s Reveal 35C detector, which enables single-exposure, dual-energy imaging on a mobile platform – KA’s patented SpectralDR technology. This advanced imaging capability helps clinicians visualize pneumonia, pneumothorax, pulmonary edema, line and tube placements, and subtle lesions like cavitations more clearly, all without disrupting existing workflows.

The procurement was supported by an Advance Contract Award Notice (ACAN), a public notification process used by Canadian institutions when only one supplier is believed to meet the specific requirements. The ACAN closed without challenge, confirming KA Imaging as the sole qualified supplier.

In clinical studies, the Reveal 35C detector has been associated with:

• Increased diagnostic confidence for pneumonia, pneumothorax, and pulmonary edema in ICU settings
• Improved visibility of lines, tubes, and hidden lesions
• Up to 37% reduction in follow-up CT imaging in critical care scenarios
